Westminster Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre is approved

It was announced this morning (Thursday 29 July 2021) that the proposed Westminster Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre, to be built close to the Houses of Parliament, has finally been given the green light.

Chief Executive of The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) Michael Newman, said: “As we move from living memory to recorded history, the national Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre will stand as a lasting monument to those who perished and those who found refuge in this country.

“The AJR, which marks its 80th anniversary this month, welcomes today’s announcement and looks forward to working with government in the roll-out of the UK Holocaust Map. This digital companion to the Westminster memorial, will highlight hundreds of sites of memory located across the country and enable communities to learn about their local connections to the Holocaust, Jewish refugees and British responses to Nazism.”
