Some 200 members and their families packed into this year’s Lunch and Concert, at the Hilton Hotel, Watford. They were welcomed by AJR Chairman Andrew Kaufman to ‘a wonderful afternoon of socialising, good food and this year’s offering of operatic entertainment – or, as I like to call it, schmoozing, noshing and humming along’. Andrew reviewed the organisation’s past 12 months, paying tribute to members and staff and singling out Director and Head of Personnel Carol Rossen (see below), who was leaving the organisation after 33 years’ service. As on previous occasions, guests were regaled with an array of ‘Songs with Strings’ by Glenys Groves and Alexander Naoumenko, with Cormac Brown on violin and Diana Franklin on piano. A vote of thanks was given by AJR Vice-Chairman and Treasurer David Rothenberg.
