Suzanne Rappaport-Ripton

Interview Summary

Suzanne was born in the summer of 1936 in Paris. She has fond memories of her early childhood, until she turned six, when she witnessed her parents’ arrest by the Gestapo. Her quick-thinking neighbour took Suzanne into her home and hid her under the table. This was the start of a very lonely and isolating childhood. Suzanne was taken to various locations in the French countryside and spent her formative years working on a farm with only animals for friends. She was brought to England by her grandparents and spent much of her life trying to navigate her way through the trauma of her childhood.
